Impress Nails Review

I'm not a fan of fake nails. I used to love them. I do love how they look (when they're natural and don't look fake that is) but my own nails have been ruined SO many times with nail glue that I haven't used them in years.

Then the other day I spotted Impress Nails in my local pharmacy. I had seen them advertised but I had my doubts about how durable they would be but decided to give them a go.

They're around the same price as you'd pay for other brands of fake nails, the patterned ones are €10 and plain ones are €8 and they come in a really good range of colours and designs. I'm sure there's something to suit everyone's taste.

SO what did I think of them......................

First I prepped my nails as instructed on the pack.
The nails themselves were SUPER easy to apply (no messing with glue). They have a little glue tab on the back of each nail and you just peel off the backing and stick the nail on. So quick and easy.

The fit of them is perfect. I'm pretty sure that every nail shape in catered for.
I ended up filing them down a bit because the edge was a bit too square for me but they felt very comfortable and I was really happy with how they looked.

It says on the packaging that they would last a week, being honest, for me they didn't & I did follow the instructions about how to prepare my nails beforehand. Two days after I applied them, one of them came off. No hassle though I had another nail in the same size so I just replaced it and carried on.
The day after that (3 days after applying them) another one came off (a different one this time). I was lucky enough to have another spare nail in the same size so reapplied that one.
And once again the 4th day another nail fell off but this time I didn't have one to replace it with so ended up taking all of them off.

The remainder of the nails came off easily and didn't damage my nails underneath. I didn't have to soak them in nail polish remover but having said that the nails that were left were secure and would have probably stayed on for another day or 2.

I wasn't doing anything other than day to day stuff. Showering, washing my hair, doing the dishes (wearing gloves btw) nothing that was too hard on my nails so that's not why they came off and I have seen other people rave about these and how they DO last a week for them so I'm not sure if maybe I got a faulty pack or something.

I will definitely give them another go. They are a little bit pricey for everyday use. I think for a special occasion they would be perfect (e.g. a wedding).

And one other "little" thing  (and this is so minor, I'm just a fusspot) but the nails I got (as you can see above) is a kind of french manicure with a little design on it.
I found that you could see the glue showing down around the nail bed area and it looked like I hadn't applied the nail down near enough to my nail bed. You can "kind of" see it in the pics above but it was more obvious in reality.I don't know if that was just a fault with the set that I got or not. Like I said I'm being a fuss pot.

PROS: Quick and easy to apply, they look good, fit great and didn't damage my nails underneath
CONS: They're a little expensive if you want to wear them everyday and (for me) didn't last a week.

So after all that, would I buy them again: YES definitely but I think I'd keep them for occasion wear rather than everyday wear.

If you have tried Impress Nails and liked them or if you didn't like them, let me know in the comments.

  1. I tried them too and got five full days out of them, the first nail popped off on the sixth day, I would definitely get them again! I had the purple starry ones and you can't see through them to the nail underneath. They looked good and a lot cheaper than a manicure if you're strapped for cash or time :)

  2. I like too that they didn't damage your nails after taking them off.
Ya I wouldn't buy the french manicure ones again because of being able to see the glue. I'd def try the coloured ones though and I agree they do look good!
I just may have to try them out again and see if they'll last longer for me ;-)

  3. I have had your problems as well. Though I rarely leave them on for more than a day, I have had an occasoinal "accident" with them. But I do agree that they are practically stunning in pattern and styles. Tge only times I wear them are at parties or my monthly comic cons. They do wonders for the whole look of the costumes.

  4. I got a full weeks wear out of mine. Here are some tips: use a good nailpolish remover to get all oils off of your natural nails. Use the enclosed prep pad liberally on your clean and dry nails. Once yoy apply the nails, and once in the morning, turn your blowdryer on low and heat your nails for 30 seconds or so. This will melt the glue. Repress your nails while they are still hot and youre good to go. I love these nails!!!

  5. I also like this product more than any other I have tried. I have found that using the short length is better..they stay on longer. I also wish there were more size selections as they stay on when the fit is really good.

  6. Anon 1 I really love how they look & the major thing for me is no damage to my own nails underneath that was a big thing that I hated when wearing false nails before.

Great tip about the hairdryer Carmen!! I must try that next time!!

Anon 2 I also found the fit of them to be really good. I would go as far as saying better than any others I've tried in the past!

  7. I used these on a Sunday. They stayed on for 2 weeks! I took them off (by myself 15 days later as they were still on). My real nails are about the same length So maybe that was a factor. First I used remover to get my old polish off. Then I filled my nails to rough them up for better adhesing. After that I wiped them with the enclosed towel. Finally I peeled and stuck them on. I loved them. I had tons of compliments on the neon pink color. Some people even thought I had my nails done at a salon. I plan on giving my nails a breather and trying the french tip design. Hopefully they stay on as well. I'll let you know!

  8. Try out and line up the nails in order. Follow directions exactly. I gently sanded my nails with enclosed fine grit pad before wiping with the enclosed alcohol pad. Use correct size for nail bed, use smaller better than too large. Remove glue cover tabs with tweezers, not teeth. Do one at a time, but both thumbs last. Press on gently pushing against cuticle, not ON it, then press down from middle first, then outsides. Don't wet or file for an hour. I don't recommend adding another glue as mixing glue will cause the degrading of both glues. I'm very active, including house work, dishes, bathing grand kids, brushing 4 dogs, etc. These nails are fabulous! They feel natural and strong. Mine stay on till I have to remove them due to nail growth! LOVE em!
