Imelda May At King John's Castle

After the fantastic Coronas concert in King Johns Castle a couple of months ago I was not going to miss the chance to see the talented Imelda May. Funnily enough I had mentioned to a friend that she was someone I was anxious to see in concert so when I got an email through that she would be performing in Limerick I was so excited and let me tell you she doesn't disappoint.

Imelda has recently changed her image (in case you don't recognise her in my pics) and I won't lie I would loved to have had the chance to see her all dolled up in her rock-a-billy outfits BUT her music and energy is still the same and she churned out hit after hit and had the crowd clapping and singing along for the evening.

Rod Stewart at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny

Rod Stewart played to an audience of 24k at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny on June 25th 2016 and my friend was lucky enough to nab us some tickets to the show at a charity auction at work.

I won't lie it was my friend that was the Rod fan, but having heard that he put on a great show I was really looking forward to seeing him live and he certainly didn't disappoint.

The crowd rocked away for over 2 hours as Rod worked his way through all his hits and I was actually surprised at how many of his songs I knew.

For me though the highlight of the night was his support, 'The Sisterhood', made up of Rod's daughter Ruby and Alyssa Bonagura. I think they're definitely ones to watch and their unique sound and great harmonies went down a storm with the crowd.

After a high performance show by Rod and co the night ended with fireworks and chants of ole, ole.

The Coronas At King John's Castle, Limerick

The Coronas played King Johns Castle last Saturday April 30th and I was so excited that a friend of mine managed to grab some tickets for the gig. It literally sold out within an hour of going online.

They are the first act since The Frames back in 2004 to play at the castle. It's such a great venue and should definitely be used more often.

Much to the shock of some of my friends I wasn't hugely familiar with The Coronas music and only knew a handful of their songs, but all that has changed after seeing them live. Their energy and music is contagious and they are such down to earth nice guys.

I, "of course" brought my camera and snapped a few pics and also filmed some video. I think you can see from the video the energy they put into their performance. Definitely worth checking these guys out if you ever have the chance to see them live.

The venue was so perfect and because only 2k tickets were sold everyone wasn't squashed and uncomfortable. Myself and my friends were delighted that we had our own little section and plenty of room.
I'm really hoping they plan on using this venue more for music events because I for one would go back in a heartbeat.

Playing support for The Coronas were The Academic who I'm pretty sure earned themselves a few new fans as well.

A great night was had by all and the countdown begins to the next gig at the castle.

My Essential Haircare Products

The one thing people tend to ask me most is what products I use on my hair, so I thought it would be a good thing to do a blog post about.

These are my go to products which mostly stay the same and have done for quite a while now. Sometimes I add in a few more things (leave in conditioners/shine spray etc) but overall these are the things I have found that work for me.

For colouring I use Garnier Nutrisse. I have tried SO many hair colours over the years and this is the only one that works on my colour resistant greys. It also leaves my hair feeling healthy and conditioned.

I have a really fussy scalp so not all shampoos suit me (what a surprise). The shampoo brand that I've found works for me is the Aussie Brand. It doesn't matter which one I use in the range so I tend to switch it up every now and then and have, at one time or another, used them all. At the moment I'm using the Beach Mate Shampoo & Colour Mate Conditioner and I tend to buy them when they're on offer.

To protect my hair when heat styling I love the TRESemmé Heat Protector. As much as I love the Aussie Shampoo and Conditioners I didn't like their Heat Protector. I found it left my hair sticky and heavy. The TRESemmé one doesn't do that and I also find that it detangles my hair slightly as well! Always a plus when you have hair like mine that tangles so easily.

I go through phases of using Argan Oil and hair masks (either the Aussie 3min miracle or Frizz Ease) depending on the condition of my hair but I personally find it's more in the summer that my hair needs these, so at the moment I'm not using anything beyond my regular shampoo and conditioner.

They are my main products that I use everytime I wash my hair. I only wash my hair every 2/3 days. With the length and thickness of my hair I really couldn't be washing it everyday and it doesn't need washing every day as it's really only my fringe that gets anyway greasy after day 3. If my fringe has been recently cut I can actually get away with 3 days of good hair before I need to wash it.

Have you found any hair care products that you can't live without? I'd love to hear about them in the comments.
